The Problem We Solve At SkinArtJ Tattoos
Alana: Thanks so much for joining us here on the SkinartJ YouTube channel I am Alana and here is J and she’ll be helping us understand the problem that she solves for her customers with walk-in Edmonton tattoos.
The quote of the day is “Color is my day long obsession, joy, and torment” and that was said by painter Claude Monet.
Daily Edmonton Tattoo Inspirations
And our fact of the day is: Italy is the most tattooed country in the world with 48% of respondents having at least one tattoo. I didn’t know that I wouldn’t have picked Italy, would you?
J: I definitely would have picked a different country! I actually didn’t know that so that’s a really interesting fact!
The Demand for Edmonton Tattoos
Alana: So as the popularity of tattoos increases across Canada so does the proliferation of tattoo shops and studios. However, that makes finding the right place to get a tattoo even more difficult. Today we’re going to be talking about Skinartj’s tattoo process and who her ideal clients are, that way the artist and customer can find each other.
Primary Service at SkinartJ Tattoos in Edmonton
Alana: So J what are your primary services at your Edmonton tattoo studio?
J: Tattooing! That’s my first and foremost service. And then in general, I am a person that listens. So if you want me to listen – excellent!
Alana: What tattoo styles do you do?
J: I do illustrative, geometric, neotraditional, fine line and I’m kind of just playing with doing everything perfect.
J’s Niche and Problem Solving in her Edmonton Tattoo Studio
Alana: And is there a need for what you do? For example, do you find that there are a lot of people looking for tattoos these days?
J: I would think so! There are quite a few people that are seeking tattoos, so there isn’t a shortage because our population is growing. So it’s not a shortage in any sense, it’s just there’s more of a variety that people can select from, and the kind of experiences that they’re seeking from it.
Alana : So J is there a specific niche that you serve?
J: I do focus on a lot of custom tattoos, so creating what the client wants to see for themselves and making it unique to them. And then also I am aiming for a lot more of flash pieces.
Alana: Excellent! What is the biggest problem that you solve for customers?
J: The biggest problem I solve for customers is probably finding the right environment. I want a calm space that is inclusive, is uplifting and open to different degrees of conversation and different depths.
Inspiration Behind Becoming a Tattoo Artist
Alana: Excellent! And what was the factor that drove you to provide tattoo services for clients? What inspired you to become a tattoo artist?
J: First it was just out of the pure need that I always had a drive to draw and it’s been something that I just don’t seem to be able to let go of. And I don’t want to let go, so it started in that sense and as I’ve grown as an artist, and as an individual. It’s become more of the necessity that I want to give back, and see how I can be of service to other people.
So not only is it an honor for me to be able to do what I do, being able to create that artwork, but also the fact that I get to engage with people, and be a part of their story in some capacity. We’re able to exchange ideas or thoughts that could provoke a completely new idea or a new way of opening up excellent I love that.
Finding Edmonton Tattoo Studio Clients
Alana: J, where do you find most of your clients?
J: Typically it’s through walk-in traffic at the moment, and a lot also kind of online so those are the two primary sources. And also seeing of course what else can transpire from other avenues.
Alana: Fantastic! How can people find you online? Do you have a website?
J: I do! Visit me on my website at www.SkinArtJTattoos.com and then I also have Instagram which is: @skinartj and even Facebook: skin-art-j.
Alana: What about TikTok? Are you skinartj there as well?
J: Yes I do have TikTok: skinartj there as well.
Alana: Wonderful! So people can find J through all of those online avenues! If you are interested in getting a tattoo from J, schedule your consultation or pick from her flash gallery! There’s lots to choose from there. Do you tend to have a lot of repeat business?
J: I have been having a lot more follow me back which I’ve been enjoying quite a bit I seem to be finding people that want that connection with others, and want to go into more depths, so that excites me! And it only makes me look forward to the broader expanse of people that I can find that want that connection as part of their tattoo experience.
Edmonton Tattoo Client Relationships
Alana: Oh, I love that! And tell me J, why are you motivated to be the best in your industry?
J: In general, I want to do better with my artwork. I want it to be an amazing piece that really stands out, and is recognizable. I guess that’s once again serving need of wanting to be seen. So being seen, and also seeing others. It’s a mixture.
Commitment to Excellence in the Edmonton Tattoo Community
Alana: Great! And what are you doing to reach the goal of being the best in your industry?
J: Constantly trying to learn in different capacities. Whether I’m learning about mental health, or about communication skills. And then other aspects where I’m learning more about the artwork, like going to seminars, to taking classes for painting and drawing. Just a variety of different contributions to help myself overall develop as a person, as an artist develop, and even with taking care of myself better, so that means going to the gym, and creating those healthy sustainable habits.
Alana: Wow, that sounds amazing! I also hear that you draw several hours a day. Is that true? How many hours do you draw per day?
J: I don’t know if I have a specific defined amount that I draw a day, but I do spend time invested quite a bit into drawing.
